Graduated from the Central Institute of Technology in Wellington with a Diploma in Pharmacy (with Distinction). Worked as a pharmacist at Taranaki Base Hospital before taking up a role with Bristol-Myers Squibb.

Left New Zealand and learnt about complementary and alternative medicine whilst working in community pharmacy in Kent, United Kingdom. Studied homeopathy at the London College of Classical Homeopathy. Was taught by experts Shelagh Creasy, David Mundy, Martin Miles and post graduate work with Jeremy Sherr. Mentored in homeopathic pharmacy by John Morgan at Helios, UK before returning to NZ in 1997 to start Similimum, a homeopathic dispensary supplying practitioners and the general public with high quality, traditionally prepared homeopathic remedies.
